Hello international buddy
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008Some Flickr old time
Friday, September 21st, 2007Flickr can be so much fun. Tonight I came by this flickr set of vintage book covers. They’re kitsch and most of them are gay themed dirty novels with titles like “the killer queens“, “the gay rebels” and “a man’s affair“. I was quite surprised, I never saw these little book of naughtiness before.
On top of it, when browsing the images I noticed some funny notes by another user. He used the notes as speech bubbles. It seemed like a nice idea to co-create cartoons on flickr so I started to play along and added sime of my own notes. Take a look around, find them and add some. Allow yourself to have some gay old innocent play-time.

The War of Worlds radio adaption
Friday, December 15th, 2006
Everybody has an opinion on the RTBF hoax, some think it’s funny, others think it’s sick. I personally think it was a necessary evil. What most of us onlinies were thinking is now a public discussion. How reliable is the “official news”? Can we trust them? Are they too powerful? How will we get our reliable news in the future?
The thing I like about this is the whole mix between reality and fantasy. There should be more of these mash-ups in the media (but not during the news broadcast next time).
This hoax reminded me of the alien invasion broadcast in 1938 that caused a widespread reaction among the millions of listeners. The radio-adaptation was extremely detailed, just like the RTBF hoax this week.
Many people have heard of this incident but only a few have actually listened to the 55 minute play. Being a sci-fi fanatic I think the radio adaptation of War of the Worlds is a masterpiece. Here is a link to a downloadable mp3 (via). Take a bottle of wine, dim the lights and listen to it.
While you listen try to keep in mind that the people in those days were genuinely frightened. They were living in a time where tension and anxiety were building up (it was just before WW2). The strange thing is that they would believe anything (an alien invasion???).
We are also living in a time of anxiety. Beware of what you believe!
Enjoy the invasion!
But they can dance!
Thursday, September 14th, 2006AAAAH, there is nothing more relaxing than spending an evening wandering around on Youtube. Last night I discovered again something hillarical, Rayman Raving Rabbids. This is the story:
The world is being invaded by an entire population of hilarious but scary raving Rabbids (see video). When there is such a thread, the best thing to do is “Get to know the enemy“. And that’s why scientists have been gathering some very scientific facts about those crazed beings…
The result is hilarious, so far we know that the bunnies are dangerous with fireworks, can’t play soccer, don’t vacuum and never close doors. They also have a problem with cooking eggs, milking cows and infiltrating conventions. Oh and they’re French, but most important, they can dance… Well I’m not sure what you think but I feel safe knowing this! More facts? subscribe to the podcast.
For those who (like me) aren’t into gaming that much, It’s all part of a campaign to promote the new game Rayman Raving Rabbids on Nintendo Wii (full trailer).
But, for those who (like me) want more Raving Rabbids and without a Nintendo Wii might still be able to get it. Joystic reports that it also might be released on some other game consoles.
Also: another funny clip (2) from a guerilla campaign “the C’mons“, similar story… (thx) (I know who made it and what it is for but i pormised not to tell untill 26/09
).
Update: FYI, The C’mons is a campaign to promote the new Opel Corsa by mccann international.
What Materazzi really said to Zidane
Wednesday, July 12th, 2006Guess yourself what Materazzi said to Zidane. Write your own subtitles for the famous video fragment right here. This initiative by Belgian communication agency mortierbrigade rewards the best written entry with an internship as copywriter. Small detail: the site was conceived in the morning and was ready by 5pm on the same day.
Second Life and second name
Tuesday, June 27th, 2006I’ve been wasting some time over in Second life lately and I’m already an addict. It’s the world of infinite possibilities, you can do and own just about everything, if something doesn’t exist you can learn to create it yourself, it’s easy everybody is doing it… They say, Linden Lab (creators) stores 15 terabytes of user-created stuff on its servers.
For example: My avatar (Corneel Cone) is a Hologram assigned to Starfleet command and with his own shuttle, faser, tricorder…
.
Their are some video reports on the Galaxy sim of Second life: Part 1, part 2 and part 3. Enjoy
Also check the other video’s from the same user, their interesting and entertaining. The explorer take’s you on a tour in hobo village, introduces a witch, shows you what eastereggs are in SL and many more…
Of course I immediately started inviting everyone I know, it’s just lots of fun to explore this virtual world with someone you know.
Last night a friend decided to be virtually reborn and so she needed a new name. (more…)
Sitcom scoops 2.0
Sunday, June 25th, 2006Nobody’s watching:
“Nobody’s watching” is the name of a sitcom made by the “Scrubs” creator and 2 writers from “Family Guy“. It’s about 2 TV obsessed guys making their own sitcom.
The sitcom will not be aired since Warner Bros. decided not to pick it up after seeing the pilot.
I can see why, the 2 main characters trash everything about making television, I think WB was insulted several times while watching this, they got scared… people might like it to much.
Aldo WB decided not to show this the pilot got “leaked” 2 weeks ago on youtube (218,184 views by now). It created some buzz, I wander if a buzz could grow big enough to get a rejected pilot back on the list… Then again, TV-networks don’t tend to listen…
Watch the pilot: part 1, part 2 and part 3, tell me what you think.

“Good news everyone!” Futurama returns:
After “Family Guy” came back from the networks trash bin (with success) Futurama will be the 2nd show to receive this eternal glory. It became official when Katey Sagal (voice Leela) confirmed it during a talk show. She said that the show will be back on in 2008 with 13 new episodes.
I can’t wait to see Bender kicking some political correct ass again!
Family guy and Futurama were both canceled but the buzz around it never went down, the networks only noticed it when they saw that both the DVD releases were a big hit.

Everything Branded:
I just don’t get how the network-regime could still get away with it in this age of social media and new-media advertising. A show like “Nobody’s Watching” is the perfect show to be released online. It would quickly find a way to a big audience and it would not hurt the DVD-sales.
The only way a show like this could go in production is if a brand would sponsor it, why not? The sponsor would get more attention with sponsoring this than with its 30′ spot. (more…)
Adicolor is complete
Sunday, May 14th, 2006In this time where sneakers are a ubiquity we would doubt on how one could still find a way to get our attention. Adidas did it with revival of their 1883 concept, they grabbed my attention for some time with their online campaign for their DIY concept Adicolor. The idea is that you buy a limited edition white shoe and that you paint it yourself. The premium kit is limited edition and if you want one you can buy one on eBay (biddings up to $450)
They have a collection for every color but they also sell spraycans and markers to design you shoes (if you have other plans for the $450).
The podcast (video) features a series of short movies. These movies were all directed by different artists whose objective was to picture the true essence of a color. Not an easy job if you ask me, colors can bring up so many ideas. Green can be something else for me as it is for you. That’s why this podcast kept me going, I was always curious for what I would see in the next one, even when the last one disappointed me. Every movie is really different, you can’t compare the one with the other…
I think Adicolor delivered a real video document on color, the whole experience made me wander how I could paint a sneaker that represents a piece of who I am. They have collections for every color but they also sell spraycans and markers to design you shoes.
StubruTV – flop of the year

Lees de Nederlandstalige versie onderaan.
In these times of cross-media thinking and convergence of channels, a debate in which public television broadcaster VRT, as well as radio station Studio Brussel want to and must play a crucial role in the future, Studio Brussel comes out with a campaign that is wrong in so many ways.
In a long teasing campaign, the radio station announced the arrival of a television channel, named StuBruTV. A whole range of known actors and singers were brought up on the stage, pretending to be dismissed by StuBru as anchors for their new television network. And an extremely predictable and tedious soap (no less than 14 episodes!) about the behind-the-scenes of the new channel played with the clichés of the confused net manager and the arrogant consultant from Holland.
So far everything could be forgiven. Studio Brussel has scored some hits in the past. They cannot always be right on the spot. Yet the teasing campaign did raise our expectations about what was coming, especially since the spots were very present on television, where the unveiling of StubruTV was announced and even counted down. The mystery grew. On the net, the tension rose and the initiative received many posts on blogs and forums. A proof on itself that people today are open for a television initiative by Studio Brussel. The radio station was even contacted by many players in the media sector to talk about possible partnerships and opportunities.
The final on Sunday night couldn’t be more disappointing: StuBruTV seems to be, as predicted, nothing more than a gimmick, a fictitious television station brought to life by some witty advertising boys & girls, in order to point out that Studio Brussel is first and foremost a good radio station, and nothing else.
First of all, it means that I have swallowed their whole boring teasing campaign to eventually, at the end of it, see five minutes of television that lack any spark of imagination. Talking about an anti-climax. But most importantly, this campaign gives a completely wrong signal. In times where screens converge, where radio is consumed via podcast, tv via mobile, and phone via internet, Studio Brussel brings us a message that is both old-fashioned and completely irrelevant: that they are foremost and apparently only radio makers. While the essence of the Studio Brussel brand, carefully and cleverly built up during these last years, is all about music, a feature which is perfectly transponable to other channels, like internet (already an important channel for StuBru), mobile, podcast (in which they are leading the market), and…television. “StuBru TV is a complaint against the decreasing quality standard”, claims Dirk Domen, creative director of Duval Guillaume Antwerp, the agency responsible for the gimmick, in De Standaard. Why didn’t the agency make a strong television program around music with the same budget, that shows it can fight against the low quality standard and putting StuBru again in the market as an innovator? ,,Apparently, we put a lot of peole on the wrong foot with this”, he says a bit further. Indeed, for a moment, I thought StuBru was ahead of the curve. It’s much the opposite, so it seems. The ultimate contradiction, finally, comes from Isabelle Baele, StuBru’s net manager, proclaiming in De Standaard that she considers nevertheless to make television with Studio Brussel in the nearby future. She’s very right, but one wonders why she made this campaign in the first place?
The conclusion seems to be, as they state themselves in their (fictitious) open letter: we want to, but we can’t.

Hot to watch ABC stream from outside the USA
Thursday, May 4th, 2006ABC had some buzz these last months on this blog, they announced to offer free TV-downloads in March but in April they decided to offer relative small sized streams…
Finally they launched this whole stunt. As I also mentioned before, this is USA residents only. That’s why this guy wrote an easy guide on how to watch these streams outside the USA.
“This is slightly complex but you should get used to the procedure. All you need is a http proxy that is hosted inside the USA and does not spill your IP address. To achieve this you need a application that checks proxy servers for those variables.”
I guess I’ll keep on using the other option…
